Wonen in je eigen energie bedrijf
The idea “living in your own energy-company” is no more than (re)develop buildings and companies to units that produce more (renewable) energy than they use.
Right now 8 billion people on this planet use more energy and produce more waste than the planet can bear. The result is a climate change that threatens out future. At the same time we need to understand that at this moment waste=energy and energy=waste. The solution is complex, but Step 1 is clear: stop burning fossile energy.
In the 20th century each individual is able to choose his own smartphone, clothing-style, home, transport. Next step is (or shoudl be): their own energy source. Individual, renewable energy in a small grid. This is the reason why many ecomomists predict the solar-energy revolution as the next tech-revolution.
VDH-RE helps companies and buildings to get there: to invest in awareness of climate change, in local small-grid renewable energy-networks, in collaborating with partners to turn (energy-absorbing) buildings and companies to energy-neutral. And why stop at energy-neutral: why not make a step to energy-producing? Make a next step to CO2-neutral or even CO2-reducing, or even to circular. I dream of a circular economy here in Amsterdam, in Bali, Morocco and Paramaribo. Each city in a different energy-market. To exchange experiences in different environmental, political, economic and social circumstances. Live and learn.

I devoted my life to turning buildings and companies from energy-absorbing to energy-producing. Within the boundaries of my job, sustainable development always was in important part in my work. But when i traveld the world in 2014-15 I learned a lot more. People from all over the world loving, living, laughing but mainly struggling to survive. A paradise beach on Bali totally covered with plastic struck me hard, and I realized the condition of the planet is worse than I already thought. Like many of us I also had seen documentaries like “Before the flood” en “Inconvenient truth”. Once more I realized we have to act. I have to act. Here and now.
Het idee "wonen in je eigen energie-bedrijf" betekent niet meer dan dat je bedrijf, woning of pand meer energie moet produceren dan verbruiken. Ruim 8 miljard mensen op aarde verbruiken meer energie en produceren meer afval dan ooit tevoren. Dat resulteert in een klimaat verandering waarvan we de resultaat niet kunnen overzien, maar die wel onze toekomst bedreigt. Tegelijkertijd weten we dat energie = afval en afval=is energie. Deoplossing is complex, maar stap 1 is helder: we moeten stoppen met fossiele energie.
In de 20e eeuw kan iedereen individueel kieven voor een eigen smartphone, kleding(stijl), huis, transport. Volgende stap is de eigen energie-bron: individueel, duurzame energie in een klein-grid. Dit is de reden dat veel economen de duurzame energie als de volgende technische revolutie voorspellen.
VDH-VG helpt bedrijven en gebouwen die slag te maken: investeren in bewustzijn, in lokaal klein-grid energie-netwerken, in samenwerking met partners om energie verslindende bedrijven en gebouwen te herontwikklen naar energie-neutraal. En waarom stoppen bij energie-neutraal? Maak dan meteen de sprong naar energie-producerend. Naar CO2-neutral, CO2-reduceren en ze;fs naar circulair. Ik droom van een circulaire economie hier in Amsterdam, maar ook in Bali, Marokko en Paramaribo. Elke stad in z'n eigen energie-markt. Om zo kennis uit te wisselen in verschillende klimaten en ecomomieen. Leven en leren!
Ik heb mijn leven gewijd aan het veranderen van gebouwen en bedrijven van energie-slurpers tot energie-procuceerders. Energie was altijd een belangrijk onderdeel van mijn werk.
